Our fraternity is designed to educate about the field of law, but also strives to provide the most essential professional skills for its members. KAPi also provide its members access to people in the area of law. Kappa Alpha Pi pursues these goals by providing the membership with the opportunity to participate in events focused on law and service designed to help the community of law. Dedicated to providing interested students information about the law school application process, law school, and the legal profession, Kappa Alpha Pi aims to facilitate interaction between brothers, individuals within the law profession, and the community as a whole. Kappa Alpha Pi (abbreviated KAPi, pronounced “Kap-ee”) is Cornell University’s only selective pre-law fraternity. Though not affiliated with a national organization, the eight current chapters of Kappa Alpha Pi have formed bonds of fraternalism and support. These chapters shared similar paths to forming their own local chapters of KAPi, preferring the safety of members and a close-knit community over the open membership offered by other pre-law fraternities. On May 7, 2011, the four founding fathers were joined by 32 other undergraduates and their faculty adviser, Professor Michael Evan Gold, in the induction of Delta chapter of Kappa Alpha Pi.Īs the Delta chapter, the founding fathers at Cornell University followed the models set forth by the University of Michigan, the University of California Los Angeles, and the University of California Riverside. After considerable research and conversation, they determined that the best way to address the many issues facing their fraternity and the Cornell pre-law community was to disaffiliate and form a new pre-law fraternity, Kappa Alpha Pi. “HONORING THOSE WHO PAVED THE PATH BEFORE US, STEADFASTLY SERVING THOSE AROUND US, AND MAKING PROGRESS FOR THOSE TO COME”Įarly in the spring semester of 2011, four brothers at Cornell University mobilized to address some of the issues with their pre-law fraternity.
